Between the long Independence Day weekend and the bevy of summer sales to explore, it’s time to exercise your fashion freedom at Aventura Mall: Revitalize your closet with a few summer 2010-specific trends, stock up on sporty accessories and electrify your entire summer look.

TRENDS
DUAL-TONED SHADES: We’ve long loved tortoise-shelled sunglasses, but a hint of pink is just what summer 2010 ordered: Dolce & Gabbana’s polished, pink and brown circular frames ($260) are a bit more subdued than past years’ oversized, circular Jackie O. styles, while retaining every ounce of panache. Also available in two-toned styles black/gray and light green/dark green. Buy them at the arbiter of summer shades style, Sunglass Hut (305-682-3554).

HIGH STYLE ON THE HIGH SEAS: It’s always on-the-water time in South Florida, especially during summer’s steamy vacation months. Be prepared with the ultimate boating shoe: Cole Haan’s (305-931-0125) sharp Air Yacht Club Boat ($149) is a classical, two-eyelet model crafted in handsome navy leather. And underneath its country-club chic appeal lies a shoe of incredible substance: Its concealed Nike Air Technology adds excellent cushioning and maximum support.

SAFE SKIN IN THE SUN: No tan is a healthy tan, and thank goodness Sephora’s (305-931-9579) made the whole sun-protecting regimen a lot more fun. The chic cosmetics company sells a
collection of trial-sized sun protection essentials for an incredible price, so you can test the product waters before you dive in. Items range from Murad Essential-C Eye Cream SPF 15 to
Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 in Lemon and Chamomile. And the Sephora Sun Safety Kit ($25) is a steal (actual value is $95!) and philanthropic: One-hundred percent of net profits benefit The Skin Cancer Foundation.

THE ULTIMATE SUMMER T: Behold what’s possibly the most perfect summer t-shirt in the universe: Lacoste’s (305-933-9948) Short Sleeve Pima Cotton Tipped Pocket T-shirt ($28.99).
Its incredible fit is body-hugging and slimming, while the ribbed v-neckline in two colors adds a charismatic twist. Choose from flattering shades Lucerne Lake Green, Petal Purple and classic
White—all perfect when paired with white or denim jeans, shorts or skirts.

A TIMELESS TUNIC: Summer is all about effortless style—the antithesis of looking like you’re trying too hard. Case in point: the Winona Print Blouse ($49.99) by Tommy Hilfiger (305-931-1631),
a gauzy way to cover up at the beach or pair with shorts for a poolside afternoon. The bright, multicolored floral print makes the tunic particularly relevant this season, yet its comfort and
adaptability means it’s likely to earn a spot in your recurring summer wardrobe for years to come.

BOOMBOX, REDUX: Ok, so you haven’t used the word “boombox” since the ‘80s: Perhaps Brookstone (305-935-2177) will re-insert the term into our 2010-era verbal repertoire. The
company’s Boombox Portable Speaker System for iPod ($99.95) nostalgically borrows its design from three decades ago, yet—happily—takes its technology from the modern day. Tilt it on its side
to watch movies and videos, or just blast its full-range stereo speakers loud and proud at a party. An AC adapter or 8 size-D batteries play up to 20 hours of continuous music, and a remote control
helps you control your personal sound machine from afar.

NEW STORES
There’s even more to enjoy with Aventura Mall’s new stores: All Saints, Lego, Desigual, Splendid, Guess Accessories, Journeys Kids, J. Lindeberg.

WHAT TO SEE

Turnberry for the Arts is a dynamic cultural initiative of Turnberry Associates, owner and manager of Aventura Mall, incorporates contemporary art and education at Aventura Mall. Recognizing
the positive impact that art can have upon people of all ages from all walks of life, the mission of Turnberry for the Arts is to enhance the experiences of local residents and visitors from the U.S.
and abroad in innovative ways. The Turnberry for the Arts collection currently features outstanding artworks by some of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists, including Donald Baechler,
Louise Bourgeois, Gary Hume, Jorge Pardo, Jaume Plensa, Julian Opie, Lawrence Weiner, Tom Otterness, and Friends With You.

Los Angeles-based artist Jorge Pardo explores the relationship between functionalism and aesthetics and his work incorporates elements of design, architecture and beauty. The 96 lamps
in this site-specific work take the form of butterflies that are alluring, practical, and question the viewer’s definition and expectation of what is considered fine art. Pardo commented to The New
York Times that he hoped the installation would make shoppers stop in their tracks, noting, “A lot of people want to take pictures of themselves in front of the butterflies. In that sense it’s really cool,
because it works like a traditional monument.”

Pardo work is included in the collections of such museums as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and
Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
