WHAT IS WI•FI?
Wi•Fi, short for wireless fidelity, is a wireless technology used to connect various computing devices to each other over the air. Here at Aventura Mall, we have implemented Wi•Fi to enable each of our customer to connect wirelessly to the Internet from any common area within the mall.

WHAT DO I NEED TO USE THIS SERVICE?
Any Wi•Fi enabled portable device such as a laptop computer or PDA that support standard Wi•Fi 802.11 b or g technologies with a standard Internet browser. In most cases, a wireless (Wi•Fi) network card is built into the device which will alert the user to the availability of a Wi•Fi network. Please refer to your manufacturer’s documentation for further information regarding your specific device.

IS THE NETWORK SECURE?
Aventura Mall’s Wi•Fi Internet service is a public service available to all Aventura Mall customers and is open to anyone who desires to use said service. There are no security measures taken for a public service and none can be expected.

When you initially access our network, you are presented with a terms of use agreement. Please make sure you agree to the terms & conditions of usage prior to accessing our network.

Is Wi-Fi the same as Bluetooth?
No. Bluetooth is a short range wireless technology used to connect mobile phones, computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and other devices to each other by a process called pairing.Wi-Fi is a wireless technology used to connect devices to a network, such as the internet.

What is a Wi-Fi Hotspot?
A location in which wireless technology (802.11 b/g) is available for use by users to connect to the internet.

Do I need an account?
No, the wireless service available at the Aventura Mall is a free service for all mall guests. Be sure to connect to the wireless service Aventura Mall Guest.

What is 802.11x?
802.11x is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standard for Wi-Fi. The x refers to the variations of 802.11 usually denoting the wireless speed and/or frequency. The Aventura Mall wireless system supports the standards 802.11b and 802.11g. Any device supporting one of these standards will work.

Where is the service available?
All common areas throughout the mall.

How do I connect to the network?
Most laptops and other Wi-Fi devices will automatically detect and display a list of available wireless networks. Select the wireless network Aventura Mall Guest. If your device does not automatically detect the presence of the wireless network, then set the SSID on your laptop or device to Aventura Mall Guest and be sure all encryption (WEP) is disabled. Once your device is connected, open up your internet browser and you will be automatically brought to the terms and conditions page. Confirm your acceptance of these policies by clicking Accept and you may begin browsing the internet.
